In the West, Islam is believed to be the symbol of the subordination of women par excellence. In order to understand how firm this belief is, it is enough to mention that the Minister of Education in France, the land of Voltaire, has recently ordered the expulsion of all young Muslim women wearing the veil from French schools! A young Muslim student wearing a headscarf is denied her right of education in France, while a Catholic student wearing a cross or a Jewish student wearing a skullcap is not. The scene of French policemen preventing young Muslim women wearing headscarves from entering their high school is unforgettable. It inspires the memories of another equally disgraceful scene of Governor George Wallace of Alabama in 1962 standing in front of a school gate trying to block the entrance of black students in order to prevent the desegregation of Alabama's schools.

I am a Greek Orthodox from Romania and I am married with a Muslim. We have a happy marriage because we learn together about life. Thank you for this wonderful book

    its an interesting read, but what is not pointed out is that Muslim women have more rights in the west than in many so called Muslim countries. Check out how women are treated in Pakistan and Saudia Arabia.

    I already knew Islam held women in high regard whereas Christian and Jewish teachings did not. This book tells it with proof in black & white. Stoning women to death for not being a virgin (on her wedding night) is a Jewish teaching (by the way it's "stone her until death on her fathers doorstep" because the "deed was done under his roof") and it's always the Western media that bring it up as an Islamic teaching when some backwards culture stone a woman to death. Islam and culture are not one and the same! Christians/Jews thought the birth of a girl is a "curse" (in Islam it's a blessing) that they are "deceitful" and cannot be trusted because Eve took Adam astray whereas the Quran lays equal blame on both of them. You don't have to be religious to read this, I highly recommend it to people of faith or atheists because these matters are always splashed on our screens and newspapers and they affect us ALL.
